Pregnancy Massage

I completed my Remedial Massage qualification in 2003 and as part of my training I undertook extra studies in pregnancy massage.

I have always loved providing pregnancy massage as a service because I believe that pregnant women are the most deserving recipients of massage. During pregnancy the female body undergoes an enormous transformation and the physical impact can lead to all sorts of aches and discomforts.

Since having my own child 3 years ago, I have a renewed love for pregnancy massage. I now understand what it feels like to grow and carry a child and I really appreciate the gift that pregnancy massage is.

Not only does pregnancy massage help to ease some of the common discomforts of pregnancy like backache, sciatica and fluid retention. Pregnancy massage also allows the expectant mother some time out and pampering before the impending arrival of her new baby.

Pregnancy massage at Burton Health

Because I am a qualified remedial massage therapist with extra training in pregnancy massage, I am experienced and qualified appropriately to be able to provide pregnancy massage right throughout pregnancy, from conception until birth.

My pregnancy massage clients will usually book monthly appointments throughout their pregnancy to help manage the aches and pains associated with their changing body structure, with the frequency of appointments often increasing to fortnightly or weekly toward the end of pregnancy.

Pregnancy massage treatments

Pregnancy massage appointments always include a brief consultation so that the mother-to-be can update me on any health or structural concerns and treatment can be tapered according to her individual needs.

The duration of the pregnancy massage is usually 1 hour and is performed with the client in a side lying position on the massage table with towels and blankets used for draping. Side lying is the best position for pregnancy massage and provides great access to the lumbar, glutes and upper legs which often take the brunt of pregnancy pressure.

Pregnancy massages can be purchased as gift vouchers and make a great congratulatory or baby shower gift.

One hour pregnancy massages at Burton Health are available for $100 and as they are an extension of remedial massage, health fund rebates do apply and can be claimed on the spot via hicaps.
